Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
FRISCO, Texas - A solo home run by Jorge Bonifacio - his third of the season - off of Frisco reliever, left-hander Chad Bell (0-1, 3.60) in the sixth inning gave the Naturals a 3-2 lead en route to a 6-2 final from Dr. Pepper Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon. Northwest Arkansas used a three-run eighth inning and a stout bullpen to solidify the win.
Trailing 1-0 after the first inning, Northwest Arkansas capitalized on a 35-pitch inning by RoughRiders' starter, Alec Asher to take a 2-1 lead. Balbino Fuenmayor drove in his third RBI of the season with a ground out to tie the game and Dusty Coleman dropped a single into left to give Northwest Arkansas the lead.
Right-handed starter, Miguel Almonte settled in after his team gave him the lead striking out three batters over the next two innings including retiring six consecutive Frisco batters. Almonte finished 3.0-plus frames, allowed two runs on three hits and struck out four in the no-decision.
After an RBI single by RoughRiders' first baseman Royce Bolinger tied the game at two runs apiece in the fourth, southpaw and Humble, Texas native, Daniel Stumpf (1-0, 3.86) entered and struck out his first batter and induced an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play. Stumpf retired all eight batters he faced earning his first Double-A win.
Northwest Arkansas added three more insurance runs in the eighth off MLB rehabber right-hander Kyoji Fujikawa as Alex Liddi reached on an error, advanced to two bases on one wild pitch and scored on Bonifacio's second hit of the game to extend the lead to 4-2. Two more runs were scored with Hunter Dozier credited with the RBI and only one run in the inning was earned.
Bonifacio finished the day 2-for-4 with a home run (3) and two RBI while Mike Bianucci and Dozier both ended with a pair of hits in the win. Bianucci hit his second double of the season and scored two critical runs.
