Naturals Loss Sets Up July 4 Rubber Match

SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- The Northwest Arkansas Naturals (32-52/7-7) dropped game two of the three game series to the Midland RockHounds (44-39/6-7) by a final of 3-1 on Thursday night in front of a crowd of 6,298 at Arvest Ballpark.

The Naturals second baseman Angel Franco led the offense - which tallied seven hits - with two singles improving his average to .263 on the season. Franco has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games and is 21-for-40 over the stretch. Lane Adams drove in the lone run for the Naturals to score Franco in the seventh inning.

Northwest Arkansas starter RHP J.C. Sulbaran (5-6, 3.00) took the loss Thursday night; but recorded his fifth straight quality start. The Curacao native tossed 6.1 innings scattering eight hits allowing three runs, two earned and struck out six in the defeat.

The Naturals and the RockHounds will square off in the rubber-match in an Independence Day show down. LHP Sam Selman (3-5, 4.00) will take the mound facing off against RHP Sean Murphy (2-0, 3.06) with a 7:05p.m. first pitch.
