San Antonio edged Tulsa 4-3 in the opener of a three-game series Wednesday night at Wolff Stadium.

The Missions grabbed a quick 1-0 lead Wednesday on Drillers' starter Richard Castillo (2-8) with a Casey McElroy run-producing ground out in the bottom of the first.

An inning later, Tulsa evened the score against San Antonio starter Josh Geer when Jared Simon followed a one-out double by Taylor Featherston with a two-bagger of his own.

The score remained locked at one until the bottom of the fourth when Jason Hagerty put the Missions ahead with a line-drive solo homer to right.

San Antonio pushed their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth on a Reymond Fuentes sacrifice fly to left. Fuentes finished the game 2-for-2 with a double and a walk.

The Missions made the score 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh courtesy of Brian Bixler's RBI single to right off reliever Ryan Arrowood.

The offensive support turned out to be enough for Geer, who won for the third straight time following six innings of one-run, six-hit ball. In his last four starts, Geer (5-7) has pitched to a 1.04 ERA (3 ER/26 IP).

Tulsa made things interesting in the top of the eighth against reliever Trevor Gott, trimming their deficit to just one on a Jose Gonzalez RBI single and a run-producing fielder's choice by pinch-hitter Joey Wong.

Fortunately for the Missions, right hander Luis De La Cruz (2nd save) ended any hopes of a Driller comeback when he struck out the side in the ninth. The win was San Antonio's fourth in a row and their sixth in their last seven.

San Antonio (45-38, 9-4) and Tulsa (44-38, 6-7) resume their three-game series Thursday on Cricket Dollar Night presented by News 4 San Antonio. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM. Right hander Leonel Campos (0-2, 2.40) will get the ball for the Missions, while the Drillers counter with lefty Carlos Hernandez (1-4, 2.47).
