Peoria Rivermen News Release

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the club has activated forward Cam Janssen. Janssen suffered an injury in the Blues' season opening 2-1 win over Philadelphia on Oct. 9. In addition, the Blues have recalled defenseman Nathan Oystrick (Ol-strihk) from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen. Defenseman Roman Polak will undergo surgery to repair a severed tendon in his right wrist on Thursday, Oct. 28.

Oystrick, 27, has played in 10 games with the Rivermen this season and is tied for fourth in the AHL among defenseman with seven points and is tied for second with three goals. He spent the majority of the 2009-10 season with the Atlanta Thrashers' AHL affiliate Chicago Wolves, collecting 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) to go along with 96 penalty minutes. In his NHL career, the 6-0, 210-pound defenseman has played in 56 games with both the Thrashers and Anaheim Ducks earning 12 points (four goals, eight assists) and 52 penalty minutes. The Regina, Saskatoon native was originally drafted by Atlanta in the seventh round, 198th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Polak, 24, spent parts of the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons with the Rivermen, suffered the injury in the Blues' 1-0 overtime win against Pittsburgh on Saturday, Oct. 23. The surgery will be performed by Orthopedic Hand Specialist Dr. Martin Boyer of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and he will be sidelined indefinitely.

The Blues will play at Nashville on Thursday Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 30, the Blues will host the Atlanta Thrashers at 7 p.m. and will look to continue their home winning streak. St. Louis has won all four home games this season and set a new club record with 10 consecutive homes wins dating back to last season. The franchise mark is a carryover from the 2009-10 season in which the Blues finished with six straight home wins. Their unblemished start at Scottrade Center has left them as the only NHL team with a 4-0-0 home record.
