Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that goaltender Nathan Lawson has been recalled to the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The Grizzlies are proud to be the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport.

Lawson was 2-0 with Utah to start this season with a 2.28 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .918. This is Lawson's first promotion to the AHL after going 17-9-1 combined during the regular season last year with Utah and Phoenix and 5-4 during the playoffs with the Grizzlies.

Bridgeport is not an unfamiliar destination for Lawson who spent training camp with the Sound Tigers this year and before that was with the New York Islanders in NHL camp.

Fourth-year ECHL goaltender and second-year Utah netminder Mike Mole will handle the goaltending for Utah this week as they travel to Victoria for games Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Mole went 18-13-5 with Utah in 2007-2008 and 3-2-1 in the playoffs.

The Utah Grizzlies, of the ECHL, celebrate their 15th anniversary season in 2008-2009. Owned and operated by the Elmore Sports Group, the Grizzlies enter their second season and sixth overall as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. South Jordan resident and former Islander Kevin Colley enters his first season as the Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations after serving as Jason Christie's Assistant Coach in 2007-2008 as the team advanced to the National Conference Finals. The Grizzlies play all home games at the E-Center of West Valley City, which hosted hockey during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
