From the Notes

Wes Benjamin: 25-year-old Wes Benjamin starts for the Sounds tonight. The left-hander is making his 23rd appearance (21st start) of the season and is 5-5 with a 6.15 ERA while covering 105.1 innings. Benjamin has yielded 126 hits and 48 walks to go with 88 strikeouts. His last time out was his second relief appearance of the year. He tossed 4.1 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks. He struck out a pair of batters and earned a win against Albuquerque. Benjamin spent the majority of his 2018 season with Double-A Frisco where he went 5-6 with a 3.62 ERA in 15 starts. The southpaw spent nearly two months on the disabled list from June 7-July 31 with a left elbow strain. Despite missing time, Benjamin led the Frisco staff in wins and ranked among team leaders in strikeouts (3rd), starts (T3rd) and innings (4th). In his minor league career, Benjamin is 26-23 with a 4.33 ERA while covering 84 games (79 starts). The Rangers drafted the Illinois native in the 5th round of the 2014 MLB Draft out of Kansas University.

High Five of Home Runs: Patrick Wisdom homered again last night, the fifth consecutive game. He has a total of six in the five-game span. The five games top his previous home run streak of three games from July 19 -23. Since June 18, Wisdom has hit 18 home runs in 40 games, tied for the most in the Pacific Coast League with Jared Walsh of Salt Lake. In that span, Wisdom is hitting .292 (45-for-154) with 32 runs, 9 doubles, 18 home runs, and 34 RBI.

Solak's 10-Game Streak: Infielder Nick Solak has hit safely in 10 straight games, giving him the 10th hitting streak by a Sounds player of at least 10 games. Since July 30 when the streak started, Solak is hitting .385 (15-for-39) with 5 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 home runs, 10 RBI and 2 walks.

A 12-Pack for Heineman: Outfielder Scott Heineman rejoined the team for his first game action yesterday since his brief stint with Texas for his big league debut. With a base hit last night, Heineman has now hit safely in 12 straight games with Nashville. It's the third-longest active streak in the Pacific Coast League. Heineman is hitting .383 (18-for-47) with 11 runs scored, 1 double, 2 home runs, 6 RBI and 4 walks during the 12 games.

How Sweep It Is: Last night's win over Fresno finished off a three-game sweep for the Sounds. It's their second sweep of the season (Four Games, June 25-28 at Memphis) and it's the second consecutive three-game sweep of the Grizzlies in as many seasons.

11 Straight with a Home Run: With blasts last night from Patrick Wisdom and Nick Solak, the Sounds have now hit at least one home run in 11 consecutive games. They have hit a total of 18 in the 11-game stretch. Nashville is now 24-17 when they hit at least two home runs.

Heating up in August: The Sounds are off to a 5-3 start in the month of August as they search for their first winning month of 2019. The club is hitting .325 (95-for-292) with 34 extra-base hits and a .930 OPS in the eight games. The average and OPS are the fourth-highest in the Pacific Coast League. Nashville also has the fourth-lowest ERA in the league at 4.88.

What's the word around Nashville?

Jeff Hem (@JeffHemPBP)

Solak has 24 HRs and 65 RBIs in 106 games on the year, and 7 HRs and 18 RBIs in 21 games with the @nashvillesounds since the trade from Tampa Bay. It's not just the power. The kid can hit. #Rangers
