Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Fresno, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies (54-63) slipped to 2-14 in their last 16 outings on Friday evening at Chukchansi Park, swept by the Nashville Sounds (50-65) in three games by a 5-1 final score in the series finale.
Nashville's Patrick Wisdom drove in the Sounds' first two runs, on a double in the second inning and a leadoff solo home run (24) in the fifth. Leading 2-1 in the eighth, Nick Solak's three-run homer (7) to centerfield secured the sweep for the visitors.
Fresno's lone run came in the fourth inning, a Yadiel Hernandez solo homer off the batter's eye. Hernandez extended an already career-high in home runs to 24 with the blast.
Solak's late shot overshadowed a quality start by Grizz right-hander Logan Ondrusek, who allowed only two (earned) runs on 94 pitches over six and a third innings. He scattered five hits and struck out four, on the heels of seven shutout innings August 3 at San Antonio. Ondrusek has surrendered just two runs over his last 13.1 IP.
Sounds lefty Joe Palumbo struck out seven over five innings, allowing only two additional hits to the Hernandez homer.
