From the Notes
Short of .500 in May: Through 28 games in the month of May, the Sounds are sitting at 13-15 and will come up just short of playing .500 ball in the month with only tonight's game remaining. Nashville totaled 8 wins in the entire month of April. Through the first 28 games of May, the Sounds are hitting .260, compared to .224 in April.
Delino's 7-Gamer: Outfielder Delino DeShields is on a 7-game hitting streak with the Sounds. Since May 18, he's hitting .371 (13-for-35) with 6 runs scored, 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 7 RBI, 2 walks and 4 stolen bases. His average has gone from .136 to .281 during the timeframe. DeShields has also reached safely in 8 straight games.
Carpenter Called Up: The Sounds lost their closer when the Texas Rangers selected the contract of right-hander David Carpenter. In 15 games with Nashville, Carpenter was 0-0 with a 1.76 ERA (15.1 IP/3 ER). He was a perfect 7-for-7 in save opportunities while limiting the opponent to a .192 batting average. Carpenter allowed only 10 hits and 4 walks while recording 17 strikeouts.
DeShields' Leadoff Blast: Outfielder Delino DeShields gave the Sounds a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when he started the frame with a leadoff home run. It was the first leadoff homer hit by a Sound since Ramon Laureano went deep on July 7, 2018 vs. Iowa.
A+ Month for Andy: Infielder Andy Ibáñez has been rock solid in the month of May with the last game remaining tonight. In 25 games, he's hitting .313 (30-for-96) with 19 runs, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs, 14 RBI, 15 walks and 2 stolen bases. His .923 OPS is third on the team, trailing only Hunter Cole's 1.264 OPS and Willie Calhoun's 1.171 OPS.
