From the Notes
Bobby's Wahl: Nashville closer Bobby Wahl has completely shut down the opponent lately. Wahl has not allowed a run in seven straight games and nine of his last 10. Since June 18, Wahl's ERA is 0.77 (11.2 IP/1 ER) and opponents are hitting .028 (1-for-36) against him. Wahl has struck out 23 of the 38 batters he has faced and has thrown 111 of his 156 pitches for strikes.
Mateo's Three Bags: Jorge Mateo's 10th triple of the season launched him into the Sounds record books. He is now tied for 10th with Tike Redman (2001) for most triples in a single-season. Redman is also ninth on the list with 11 triples (2000). Nashville's all-time leader for triples in a single-season is Duane Walker with 15 in 1979.
Beau Knows Three Hits: Beau Taylor notched a season-high three hits in last night's loss. Taylor's previous high of two hits was done 14 times and as recently as July 13 at Iowa.
Let's Play Two: Tonight's doubleheader is the fourth of the season for Nashville - and last scheduled (for now). The Sounds played two in Oklahoma City on June 27 and won both games. They were then swept in a doubleheader in Omaha on July 2. The Sounds and Cubs played a split doubleheader (day-night) on July 13 and split the two games. Nashville's .500 (3-3) record in doubleheader's is on par with eight other teams in the Pacific Coast League, including Oklahoma City (4-4).
Lending Assistance: Ramón Laureano recorded his team-leading 11th outfield assist of the season when he threw out Connor Joe trying to stretch a single to a double in the ninth inning. Laureano's 11 assists ranks fourth among PCL outfielders. Tyrone Taylor of Colorado Springs leads the league with 14 while Adolis Garcia of Memphis and Magneuris Sierra of New Orleans are tied for second with 12.
