CHARLESTON, SC - One-thousand Nancy O'Dell bobbleheads will be given to the first 1,000 fans through the gates when the Charleston RiverDogs host the Lexington Legends at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, July 28 at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

In addition, O'Dell will throw the ceremonial first pitch and will sign autographs for fans. Her appearance and the giveaway are sponsored by Pet Dairy and the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association (SUDIA).

Best known as co-host of the daily syndicated entertainment magazine Access Hollywood since its 1996 premiere, O'Dell also hosted Nashville Star on the USA Network during its first two seasons (2003-04). She has been named as one of Television Week's 10 Most Bankable Stars in Syndication and ranked as one of the 20 Hottest Stars Right Now by Shape Magazine.

A native South Carolinian, O'Dell began her journalism career at her hometown station of WPDE in Myrtle Beach and then spent 1991-94 as the morning anchor and crime reporter for WCBD-TV2 in Charleston. She later moved to WTVJ-TV in Miami, FL.

Then known as Nancy Humphries, she won the Miss South Carolina pageant in 1987. At Miss America, Nancy won a swimsuit preliminary in one of the toughest competitive years the pageant had ever seen. O'Dell graduated from Clemson University in 1990.

She is the winner of three Associated Press Awards, two Society of Professional Journalists' Awards and is a six-time Emmy Award nominee. In 1998, O'Dell was the youngest person ever elected to the South Carolina Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame.

She is active in many national charities, including the American Red Cross, Best Buddies and March of Dimes.

O'Dell serves as a contributor for NBC's Today Show and Dateline NBC. In addition, she co-hosted the Miss USA and Miss Universe competitions in 2004 and 2005, respectively, and co-hosted the Miss USA 2006 pageant.
