
Nailers Sign Soucy

WHEELING, WV â The Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League announce the signing of defenseman J.P. Soucy for the 2002-2003 season.
Soucy is entering his fourth full season of professional hockey. He signed with the Nailers for the 2000-2001 season and made the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton American Hockey League team during training camp. During that season he only played five games with the Nailers at the end of the season before suffering an injury. Last season Soucy played 66 games with the Nailers and had 14 points on four goals and ten assists. He also had 208 penalty minutes.
"Soucy is a great young player that will be one of the leaders of our team," stated Nailers Head Coach John Brophy. "He is a physical player that also has very good offensive skills. He will play a major role on our team this season."
Wheeling will begin its 11th season of professional hockey when the Nailers play in Reading on October 11. The Nailers first home game of the 2002-2003 season is Sunday, October 13 against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
