Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Falcons continue to bolster their lineup for defense of their Taylor Cup Championship by re-signing defensemen Cory Murphy and Kirk DeWaele as well as forward/defenseman Alex Todd. With these recent signings, the Falcons now have 10 players under contract for the 2002-03 season.

Murphy, 25, will be entering his third season with the Falcons. During the 2001-02 campaign, he set a new career high in points with 53 (10g-43a), finishing second in scoring among WCHL defensemen. His 43 assists were tops among league defensemen as he was named to the All-WCHL Second Team.

DeWaele, a 26 year-old native of Calgary, Alberta, is hard-nosed defenseman who was a key component to last year's championship. In a regular season that was plagued with injuries, he was one of only two Falcons to play in all 72 games.

Todd, 23, will be entering his second professional season with the Falcons. His ability to play both offense and defense made him a valuable commodity during last season's run for the Cup as he contributed nine points (3g-6a) in 66 games worth of action.

Falcons ticket packages for the upcoming 2002-03 campaign are on sale beginning as low as $100. Contact the Falcons office for more information at 485-PUCK (7825).
