San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls have signed defenseman Dennis Mullen, the West Coast Hockey League club announced today.
Mullen, 25, comes to the Gulls after spending the last three seasons in the East Coast Hockey League. In that three-year span, Mullen played for six different teams. Last season, he split time with the Arkansas RiverBlades and Macon Whoopee. In 36 games combined with Arkansas and Macon, Mullen recorded nine points (2g, 7a) and 191 penalty minutes.
"Dennis is a tough kid, who'll add more depth to our defensive core," Gulls head coach and General Manager Steve Martinson said. "He's a solid, young player and we're hoping that he will really excel in San Diego."
The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Bonnyville, Alberta began his professional career with the WCHL's now-defunct Tucson Gila Monsters in 1998-99. Before turning pro, Mullen spent four seasons in the Western Hockey League.
The Gulls begin their eighth season in the WCHL Saturday, Oct. 12 versus the Long Beach Ice Dogs. Season ticket packages are currently on sale. Contact a Gulls ticket representative at 619-224-4625 ext. 7 for more information.
