Mystics Alana Beard selected to All-Star team

Washington, D.C. -Washington Mystics guard/forward Alana Beard has been named as a reserve to the 2005 WNBA All-Star team for the Eastern Conference. It will be the first All-Star game for Beard who was drafted by the Mystics with the first-round (second overall) pick of the 2004 draft. She currently leads the team with 14.5 ppg and 1.8 spg.

"It is a privilege to be named to the All-Star team. I am sure will be a wonderful experience to get a chance to play alongside so many accomplished players," said Beard. "I want to thank my teammates, coaches and especially all of the Mystics fans for their continued support."

The All-Star reserves where selected by the WNBA coaches. The 2005 WNBA All-Star Game will be hosted by the Connecticut Sun on Saturday, July 9 at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will be televised nationally on ABC at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
