
DeMya Walker named a reserve for 2005 WNBA All-Star Game

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., July 5, 2005 - The Sacramento Monarchs today announce that forward DeMya Walker was named as a Reserve for the 2005 WNBA All-Star Game, to be played on Saturday, July 9, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Walker, who will represent the Western Conference, will be making her All-Star debut.
Fifth in votes for Western Conference forwards (41,565), Walker is averaging 14.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. She currently ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.500) and field goals made per 40 minutes (8.5). Walker is third in the WNBA in points per 40 minutes (21.0) and field goals made (93).
While the fans determined the starters for the 2005 WNBA All-Star Game, Walker was selected as a Reserve by the coaches of the Western Conference. Fan balloting was conducted online at WNBA.com and in all 13 WNBA arenas across the country.
Walker will join Monarchs teammate Yolanda Griffith, who was voted in by the fans as the starting center for the Western Conference.
The 2005 WNBA All-Star Game will be hosted by the Connecticut Sun on Saturday, July 9 at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will be televised nationally on ABC at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
The Monarchs will return to ARCO Arena on Thursday, July 14, to host the San Antonio
Silver Stars at 11:30 a.m. in a game to be televised locally on News10. Fans are
