Allen Americans News Release

ALLEN, Texas- The Allen Americans lost tonight in a shootout to the Laredo Bucks, 5-4 in front of 3,984 at the Allen Event Center.

Hans Benson opened the scoring with his second goal of the year at 5:57. Benson's goal was a power play tally, assisted by Jeff Bes and Serge Dube.

Judd Blackwater scored just over 10 seconds later to tie the score at one. Bruce Graham made a marvelous pass from the wall to find Blackwater on the back door for the tap in.

In the second period, the Americans looked like they were going to take control, when Brian McMillin scored just 2:29 in, and Dave Bonk followed four minutes later. McMillin's goal was his first as an American, with Judd Blackwater and Nino Musitelli assisting on the play. Bonk's goal was assisted by David Nimmo and Colton Yellow Horn.

Laredo stormed back later in the period with three goals of it's own to take a 4-3 lead. Ryan Lehr, Benson, and Chris Pontes scored unanswered goals for the Bucks in the period.

Yellow Horn scored just 2:07 into the third to tie the contest at 4, a score which would stand for the rest of the period and send the game to overtime.

After a scoreless overtime in which goaltenders Adrien Lemay and Torrie Jung turned aside all shots, the game moved to a shootout, the second such event for the Americans in 2010-11.

Unfortunately for the home faithful, the Americans went scoreless in the shootout, while the Bucks' Darryl Smith buried a marker to give his team the win.

The Americans return to action Friday night, December 10th in Hidalgo against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees.
