(Windsor, ON) - Trevor Murphy's goal in the first minute of overtime lifted the Spitfires to an improbable, 4-3 win over the Ottawa 67s Thursday night.

The victory moved Windsor (24-30-2-1) into a tie with Saginaw for eighth place and a Western Conference playoff spot.

Murphy's goal, his second of the game and team-leading 21st of the season, started as a rather harmless looking shot but found its way past Liam Herbst (32 saves), emptying a jubilant Spits bench.

Lucas Venuto's 18th of the season at 19:03 of the third period sent the game to extra time with Alex Fotinos (27 saves) on the bench in favour of the extra attacker.

Chatham native Travis Konecny sparked the offense for Ottawa (33-21-3-1), leading the 67s back from a 2-0 first period deficit with a goal and two assists.

Cristiano DiGiacinto (17) had the other goal for Windsor, while Slater Doggett chipped in three assists.

The Spits hit the road for Sault Ste Marie and a Friday night date with the Greyhounds, before returning home to host the Sarnia Sting Sunday afternoon at 2:05.
