Murphy has grand old time as 'Dogs win, 4-2

David Murphy blasted a two-out grand slam in the sixth inning as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the Bowie Baysox, 4-2 at Hadlock Field on Sunday afternoon. The 'Dogs swept the three-game set from Bowie and won their fourth straight game to end the month of April. Overall, the Sea Dogs finished 13-10 in the opening month and 7-3 at home.

Murphy's home run landed into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion in straight away right field. He joins Brandon Moss as the second Sea Dog to reach the new seats this season. Bowie left fielder Jeff Fiorentino launched a solo home run into the Pavilion in the eighth inning for Bowie's second run.

Chris Smith (2-2) worked seven innings allowing one unearned run to earn the victory for Portland. Smith didn't issue a walk and fanned four, picking up his second win in three starts at Hadlock Field.

Kevin Frederick worked the final two innings to notch his first save in the Red Sox Organization. James Johnson suffered his first loss of the season, despite Eric DuBose giving up the blast to Murphy.

Notes...Portland won their season high - fourth straight game and finished the month of April 13-10.
