Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
William Collazo threw 7 1/3 no-hit innings and Andy Wilson hit his first homer of the year, helping the Binghamton Mets to a 4-2 victory over the Erie SeaWolves at Jerry Uht Park Sunday. The B-Mets took two of three in the series.
Binghamton (12-11) got to Erie starter Virgil Vasquez in the third when J.E. Cruz led off with a walk and Wilson followed with a two-run shot to left. Two batters later, Jorge Padilla doubled, moved to third on a groundout and scored on a Vasquez (1-3) wild pitch for a 3-0 B-Mets lead. Binghamton would tack on another in the fourth when Jonathan Slack singled, moved to second on a Cruz base hit, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Michel Abreu.
Collazo (3-1) allowed only three baserunners through the first seven innings and didn't give up a hit until Erie's (9-14) Danilo Sanchez and Chris Maples got to him for back-to-back one-out singles in the eighth. After Scott Tousa reached with a fielder's choice off Tim McNab, Juan Francia drove in Sanchez with a fielder's choice and Maples scored when Tony Giarratano doubled.
Henry Owens pitched the final 1 1/3 innings for his sixth save in as many opportunities.
Monday, the B-Mets continue their seven-game road trip, starting a four-game set at Akron. Miguel Perez (1-1, 3.86) will get the start for the B-Mets against Nick Pesco (1-1, 5.82) of Akron. Game time is 7:05 from Canal Park with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show kicking off the broadcast at 6:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
