New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release


(Manchester)--- Left hander Pat Misch pitched six shutout innings and designated hitter Tyler Von Schell went 3-for-4 with a home run as Connecticut defeated New Hampshire 3-0 Sunday in Eastern League action in Manchester.

Misch (2-0) allowed only two hits, both by Fisher Cat shortstop Manny Mayorson, while walking three and striking out six. Relievers Jason Waddell and Billy Sadler worked three hitless innings of relief in the Defender win. Sadler picked up his second save.

Connecticut (13-8) scored single runs in the first, sixth and seventh innings. In the first, second baseman Derin McMains walked and advanced to third on a steal and error. Right fielder Nate Schierholtz doubled him home for a 1-0 lead against New Hampshire starter and losing pitcher Ismael Ramirez (2-3).

Center fielder Clay Timpner singled to start the sixth, stole second and third, and scored on a sacrifice fly by left fielder Eddy Martinez-Esteve. Von Schell homered off reliever Jason Arnold in the seventh to give Connecticut a 3-0 lead.

The Fisher Cats (8-14) continue the seven-game homestand on Monday night against the Bowie Bay Sox (Baltimore AA) with a 6:35pm game. Left hander Davis Romero (2-1, 2.86) starts for New Hampshire.
