
Mudcats drop decision to Chattanooga

Zebulon, NC --- Justin Sellers drilled a two-run double in the eighth inning to break a 1-1 tie to lead Chattanooga to its fourth straight win 3-1 over the Carolina Mudcats in the series opener at Five County Stadium on Thursday night.
Derrik Lutz (L, 0-2) retired the first two hitters of the inning before Adam Godwin bunted for a hit. A pair of walks followed before Sellers drove a pitch into left-center to score two runs. A third run would have scored but Victor Mercedes tripped rounding third base fell over and scrambled back to third base.
Chattanooga (7-14) took a 1-0 lead in the first against Dallas Buck on a two-out double by Gaby Martinez brought home Andrew Lambo from first who had walked.
Todd Frazier singled home Chris Heisey in the third to even the game 1-1.
Buck left his start after facing just one batter in the fourth inning. No word was immediately given on the reason for Buck's departure.
Carolina (8-13) had just six hits for the second straight game, with Eric Eymann and Michael Griffin adding a pair of singles.
Travis Wood (0-3, 0.83) starts Friday night against former Mudcat Tim Corcoran (0-1, 3.72) at 7:15 PM ET at Five County Stadium.
