Birmingham Barons News Release

For the second straight night, every Baron recorded a hit as the Barons produced 16 knocks to rout the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx 13-2 at Regions Park Thursday night.

Tyler Flowers put the Barons on the board in the first inning with a sacrifice fly that scored John Shelby. That was the score when Cook crushed a three-run home run over the left field wall.

Cook hit a two-run blast in the eighth inning to cap the scoring for a Birmingham lineup that has put up 21 runs and 26 hits in the two games since being shut out in Mobile Tuesday night.

John Ely didn't need much run support to improve to 3-0. The Chicago-native went 5.1 innings and allowed one earned run on five hits. He struck out six while walking three.

The same two teams will play again Friday night with a 7:05 PM start time at Regions Park. There will be fireworks after the game as well as a Girls Scout sleepover. For more information, call 988-3200 or you can read more information at www.barons.com.
