Huntsville Stars News Release

The Huntsville Stars understand that there is an abundance of closings in area businesses, schools, parks, museums, dance studios, etc., here in Madison County. However, the Huntsville Stars game that is scheduled for tonight is still on. As in the announcement from the organizers of this weekend's Whistlestop BBQ event, the risk of exposure is not believed to be increased because the event is outdoors. The County's two unconfirmed cases of the Swine Flu have not been substantiated and we're staying abreast of the situation. Minor League Baseball and the Southern League have both sent memos this afternoon regarding the playing of games.

We will continue to stay in contact with local health & news agencies and as the situation dictates, continue to act accordingly to safeguard the public, the players, coaches, umpires. If local authorities feel the need to cancel events such as the Whistlestop, Stars games, etc., we will, of course follow their guidance and close the stadium to the public. With that said, it's game on. The Sabrett Hot Dogs will be hot and all 20-ounce Buds, Bud Lights and AmberBocks are only $2 thru the 7th inning. So, if you hear that ballparks are closed, the reference is currently to youth sports and school, not Joe Davis Stadium.
