Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with the Quad City Mallards, today announced the trade of forward Joe Blaznek to Quad City in exchange for future considerations. Blaznek will join the Mallards immediately, while the Mudbugs will receive a player to be named later to completed the trade.
"I would first like to thank Joe Blaznek for everything he ¬â¢s brought to this hockey team over the past three years," said Head Coach Scott Muscutt. "I really like Joe and I hate to see him go, but our recent slide has put us in a position where a shakeup has become mandatory. We are currently searching for another veteran impact player, and in order to pursue such a search you have to have a vet spot available on your team."
"We would like to wish Joe continued success in Quad City, and we hope that this change will be good for both him and for our hockey club going forward."
Blaznek, 35, ranked tenth on the ¬ËBugs in scoring this season with 22 points on ten goals and 12 assists, but had recorded only three points and a -9 rating in the 15 games prior to the trade. In 39 games this season, the 13-year veteran also had 16 penalty minutes, a -17 rating, three powerplay goals and three game-winning goals. After leading the team in goals in each of the last two seasons, he finishes his Mudbugs career with 57 goals, 77 assists, 134 points and 82 penalty minutes in 167 games.
Quad City will be Blaznek ¬â¢s fifth CHL team after prior stints in Lubbock, Wichita and Corpus Christi during his eight years in the league. The Detroit, Michigan native has played 757 professional games over 13 seasons, scoring 321 goals and adding 366 assists for a total of 687 career points. Last season he scored his milestone 300th career goal and played his 700th career game.
