Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - RW Pascal Morency recorded three goals to boost the Bakersfield Condors (4-3-0-0, 8pts) over the Alaska Aces (5-2-0-0, 10pts) by a score of 5-4 and into first place in the Pacific Division in front of 3,034 fans on Wednesday night at Rabobank Arena.

A back-and-forth first period saw the Aces grab the lead with just under two minutes left in the frame. D Brandon Gentile blasted a slap shot from the left point that found its way through traffic to beat G Josh Tordjman. The Aces out shot the Condors 13-7 in the period.

Bakersfield exploded to take control of the game in the second period, as Morency cracked the Aces shutout streak with a goal just 15 seconds into the period. It was followed up by two more goals in the next 1:21 seconds, the first from C Rylan Kaip and the next by D Joey Ryan, as the Condors rocketed to a 3-1 advantage in the second. F Chris Langkow brought the Aces back to within one, until Morency added his second of the night with a one-timer after a faceoff win in the final two minutes . The Condors led 4-2 going into the third period.

Langkow kept the Aces within striking range when he put home his second of the night on a power play halfway through the third period to draw the Aces back to within a goal. Morency answered once again by scoring into an empty net with just over a minute left in the game. The Aces made it interesting by scoring with the goalie pulled, but the Condors killed off a late period penalty to skate away with the 5-4 victory.
