Gwinnett's Nesbitt Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Derek Nesbitt of the Gwinnett Gladiators is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for October.

Nesbitt led the league in October with 13 points and a plus-minus of +12 while tying for second with seven assists and tying for third with six goals as the Gladiators went 5-0-2 in the opening month of the ECHL season.

The 28 year old scored at least one point in all seven games during the month. He tallied a hat trick, added an assist and finished +5 in a 6-2 win over South Carolina on Oct. 22 and scored two goals in a 5-2 win over Florida on Oct. 23. Nesbitt closed out the month with three points (1g-2a) in a 4-3 win at Elmira on Oct. 30.

Nesbitt was named ECHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 24 and was the ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for October.

The native of Egmondville, Ontario has 236 points (84g-152a) in 208 regular season games and 35 points (15g-20a) in 43 Kelly Cup Playoffs games with Gwinnett, Idaho and Toledo. He also has appeared in 123 American Hockey League games with Rockford, San Antonio and Manitoba scoring 59 points (27g-32a).

Runners Up: Michael Dubuc, Elmira (6 gp, 6g, 3a, 9 pts), Alexandre Imbeault, Florida (8gp, 8g, 2a, 10 pts) and Kory Karlander, Kalamazoo (6 gp, 4g, 7a, 11 pts).

Also Nominated: Brian Swanson (Alaska), Rylan Kaip (Bakersfield), Julien Brouillette (Greenville), Mark Derlago (Idaho), Jeff Corey (Ontario), Andy Bohmbach (Toledo), Brad Snetsinger (Utah) and Milan Gajic (Victoria).
