Nesbitt Player of the Month and Plus Performer for October

Gladiators forward Derek Nesbitt was named the ECHL Player of the Month and the AMI Graphics Plus Performer of the Month for October.

In seven games in October with the Gladiators, the Egmondville, Ontario native notched 13 points (six goals, seven assists) with Gwinnett during the month while earning a +10 rating in that span.

His 13 points through October led the league in scoring and he currently shares the top spot in points in the ECHL. His +10 rating was tops in the league through October and he currently ranks first in the ECHL with a +9 rating.

Nesbitt was named the player of the week from October 18th to the 24th, as he led Gwinnett with a 6-2 win over South Carolina. He posted a hat trick including two shorthanded goals, an assist and a plus-five rating in the victory. The next night against Florida, Nesbitt potted two goals including the game-winner.

Nesbitt is currently in his third stint in Gwinnett. He ranked third in scoring with 69 points (26 goals, 43 assists) during his rookie campaign with Gwinnett in 2005-06 and helped the Gladiators advance to the 2006 Kelly Cup Finals. He then earned his first call up to the American Hockey League while with Gwinnett during the 2007-08 season. At the time of his recall, Nesbitt led the Gladiators in scoring with 39 points (11 goals, 28 assists) before joining the Rockford IceHogs for the rest of that season.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
