Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Crosscutters' pitching faltered Sunday in a 9-2 loss to Hudson Valley, despite an early lead.

The loss is Williamsport's second straight to Hudson Valley, and assures another lost series. The Cutters haven't won a series since June 26th.

Zach Taylor put Williamsport ahead 2-0 in the second inning on a two-run triple. His shot to deep right scored Cameron Perkins and Mitch Walding.

But Jon Musser, after a 1-2-3 first, struggled from there. He allowed four runs in the bottom half of the second inning. Richie Schaffer drew a leadoff walk. Luke Maile then singled to left. Ryan Dunn doubled to deep left to tie the ballgame, before Marty Gantt tripled to give the Renegades a 3-2 lead. Gantt would finally score on a passed ball to cap the inning at 4-2.

Musser ran into more trouble in the third. After loading the bases, Musser walked Gantt to make it 5-2. That was the last of Musser.

Nic Hanson came on and got the final out, but gave up a three-run homer to Justin O'Connner in the fourth. He also allowed one more, albeit unearned, run in the sixth.

Williamsport again went quiet when down. After the second inning, the Cutters only put one runner in scoring position.

The Cutters drop to 13-28 and try to avoid the sweep in Hudson Valley tomorrow at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
