Syracuse Crunch News Release
Syracuse, NY (February 11, 2004) â The Syracuse Crunch announced today that center Brad Moran has been named the Sher-Wood American Hockey League Player of the Week for the period ending February 8, 2004. In three games, Moran scored five goals and added one assist as the Crunch began a five-game road swing with a 3-1-0 record.
Moran was held scoreless in a 4-3 loss at St. John's on February 3, then rebounded the next night with a power play goal to cap the scoring in the Crunch's 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs. On February 6 in Wilkes-Barre, Moran netted his first professional hat trick, scoring three times in Syracuse's 6-1 rout of the Penguins. And on February 7, he recorded his second straight game-winning goal and dished out an assist as the Crunch won in Hershey, 4-2.
In recognition of his achievement, Moran will receive a Sher-Wood leather jacket, presented to him during an on-ice ceremony prior to an upcoming game. In addition, Sher-Wood will donate five travel bags to West Genesee Hockey in Moran's name.
Originally a draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 1998, Moran signed with Columbus in 2000 and is in his fourth season with Syracuse, and is currently second on the team with 17 goals, 24 assists and 41 points in 46 games this season. The 24-year-old native of Abbotsford, B.C., has also appeared in two NHL games with the Blue Jackets in 2003-04, registering a goal and an assist for his first two NHL points. In 228 career AHL games with the Crunch, Moran has totaled 65 goals and 86 assists for 151 points.
