Durham Bulls News Release

(Buffalo, NY) Matt Moore gave the Bulls six shutout innings on Friday, but Durham lost 3-2 at Buffalo to start a 10-game road trip.

Moore retired his first nine batters before and didn't allow a runner past second base. He struck out 10 and walked two, while giving up two hits, one a pop fly that was lost in the lights.

In five Triple-A starts, Moore has allowed just three runs and has fanned 49 in 30.2 innings, while allowing seven walks and 16 hits. His ERA is 0.88 in Triple-A.

Durham, which scored a run on a John Matulia double in the first, made it 2-0 in the seventh when Tim Beckham hit a two-out single to left for his first Triple-A RBI.

Buffalo rallied against Dane De La Rosa (4-4) in the bottom of the inning. Fernando Martinez, Luis Hernandez and Mike Nickeas singled, with the final hit plating a run. Jesus Feliciano then squared to bunt and was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Pinch-hitter Luis Figueroa grounded into a 4-6 fielder's choice, tying the game. A wild pitch followed and Nickeas scored the lead run on a bang-bang play at the plate.

Durham was unable to get another base runner against Pat Misch (7-7) and former Bull Dale Thayer (16 saves). Beckham and Matulia each two of Durham's eight hits.

Durham will look to bounce back on Saturday at 7:05 as Alex Torres (8-6) takes the hill against Chris Schwinden (7-6). Coverage on 620 the Buzz begins at 6:50, with first pitch at 7:05.
