Knights Selected as Triple-A Best Tools

FORT MILL, S.C. - Charlotte Knights first baseman Jim Gallagher and outfielder Dayan Viciedo have been selected as two of Baseball America's Triple-A Best Tools. Viciedo was selected as the Best Batting Prospect in the International League and Gallagher was selected as the Best Defensive First Baseman in the league.

Gallagher, 25, has made 92 total starts at first base for Charlotte so far this season. He is currently the defensive leader among first basemen in the International League with a .996 fielding percentage and only three errors. This is the second consecutive season that he has received the Best Defensive First Baseman honor.

Viciedo, 22, is hitting .298 (121-406) for Charlotte with a team leading 16 home runs and 68 RBI this season. He was named the International League Player of the Month for the month of May batting .349 (38-109) with six home runs and 27 RBI during that time. This season he has already been named to the International League All-Star Team and participated in the MLB Futures Game.

The Knights continue their homestand tonight with the opener of a four-game series against the Norfolk Tides. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 PM at Knights Stadium.
