Lin With Late Lightning-Pawsox Beat Braves

The PawSox were down to their final out on Friday night in Gwinnett, trailing 3-2 when Che Hsuan Lin singled in two runs in the top of the ninth inning to give Pawtucket a 4-3 lead. An insurance run scored moments later on a passed ball charged to Wil Nieves and the PawSox won 5-3. The seesaw game ended as Scott Atchison struck out Wilkin Ramirez with a man on base. Ramirez hit a solo homer in the eighth, breaking a 2-2 tie. Lars Anderson and Jose Iglesias knocked in the other PawSox runs.

Tony Pena pitched five great innings, surrendering a run on six hits. Hideki Okajima and Jason Rice each allowed a run. Okajima lasted just two thirds of an inning. Rice (4-4) was the winner. He went two and two thirds for the victory. Atchison pitched the ninth, striking out two, for his fourth save. With the win, the Sox (68-51) are a season-high 17 games over .500 and still alone in first in the North. They lead Lehigh Valley by a game. Five time National League All Star Brian McCann began a ML rehab for his oblique and went 1-3 with a run batted in for Gwinnett.

The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Kyle Weiland (8-7, 3.23) will face Todd Redmond (8-8, 2.91.
