Monsters Snap Wolves' Home Winning Streak

ROSEMONT, Illinois - The Chicago Wolves allowed three second-period goals to fall to the Cleveland Monsters 3-2 on Friday night at Allstate Arena. The loss snapped the first-place Wolves' eight-game home winning streak.
Center T.J. Tynan and rookie defenseman Dylan Coghlan scored for Chicago (36-19-5-2) while netminder Max Lagace (16-8-4) saved 34 shots. The loss, coupled with Iowa's home win over San Antonio, cut the Wolves' Central Division lead to 1 point.
"I was really, really disappointed in our team effort," said Wolves head coach Rocky Thompson. "I thought last weekend, guys really stepped up and really unified. We've responded the right way all year. That's what I would anticipate will happen tomorrow."
Kole Sherwood tallied a pair of goals for Cleveland (30-26-6-1) while Tommy Cross scored the game-winner. Goaltender Jean-Francois Berube (20-17-5) saved 24 shots.
Tynan notched a goal late in the first period, sending the Wolves into the first intermission with a lead after hitting the net on a textbook tic-tac-toe play at 19:48.
Sherwood evened the game up just 10 seconds into the second period, one-timing a shot from the left circle for his first of the night.
Sherwood notched another at the 7:05 point, knocking in a loose puck after Lagace dropped a glove save.
Cross made it 3-1 at the 9:47 mark of the second, sending a shot through traffic to beat Lagace blocker-side for the eventual game-winner.
Coghlan rifled a shot from the point past Berube on the Wolves' fourth man-advantage of the night -- cutting the Cleveland lead to one at 18:25 of the second period -- but the Wolves were unable to capitalize in the final period to even the score.
