Moniak homers twice in 5-4 win

(Moosic, PA) - Former first round draft pick Mickey Moniak had quite the game on Friday night at PNC Field for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (15-13). He homered twice and recorded a season-best five RBI in the team's 5-4 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (18-8). Moniak now has five home runs on the season.

Thomas Milone put the RailRiders on the scoreboard first in the top of the fourth inning against Bailey Falter (2-0) as he hit a solo home run. The home run was Milone's first of the season. Moniak hit a three-run home run off Deivi Garcia (1-1) in the top of the sixth inning to give Lehigh Valley a 3-1 lead.

Falter was strong once again for the IronPigs as he struck out six batters over five innings while allowing only one run. Mauricio Llovera entered the game to pitch in relief in the bottom of the sixth inning. He allowed a run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Armando Alvarez hit an RBI double to score Andrew Velasquez.

Moniak struck again in the top of the eighth inning as he hit a two-run home run Addison Russ to give the Pigs a 5-2 lead. Moniak finished the night going 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI, two runs scored and one strikeout.

Enyel De Los Santos pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. Velasquez hit a two-run home run off Neftali Feliz in the bottom of the ninth inning to cut Lehigh Valley's lead to 5-4. Feliz earned his third save of the season by finishing out the inning recording a strikeout.

Lehigh Valley and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre play again on Saturday afternoon at PNC Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
