LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

@ St. John's (1/17): The Manchester Monarchs could not solve goaltender Eddie Pasquale as they fell to the St. John's IceCaps, 4-1, at Mile One Center on Friday night. Left wing Nick Deslauriers scored the lone goal for the Monarchs. Left wing Jason Jaffray, center John Albert, and right wing Jerome Samson lit the lamp for the IceCaps. Monarchs goaltender J.F. Berube (14-11-2) took his 11th loss of the season making 27 saves on 30 shots. IceCaps netminder EddiePasquale (16-12-1) earned his 16th win of the season, stopping 36-of-37 shots. Manchester was 0-for-5 on the power play. St. John's went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

@ St. John's (1/18): - Goaltender J.F. Berube recorded his first American Hockey League shutout with 28 saves and right wing Tyler Toffoli collected a natural hat trick as the Manchester Monarchs shutout the St. John's IceCaps, 6-0, at Mile One Centre on Saturday night. Left wing Andy Andreoff, defenseman Vincent LoVerde, and center Jordan Weal joined Toffoli on the scoreboard for the Monarchs. Berube (15-11-2) earned his 15th win of the season stopping all 28 shots he faced in the game. IceCaps netminder EddiePasquale (16-13-1) took his 13th loss of the season, stopping 28-of-34 shots. Goaltender Michael Hutchinson (0-1-0) stopped the one shot he faced in relief duty. Manchester was 2-for-6 on the power play. St. John's went 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (26-11-2-4) are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with 58 points. The Providence Bruins (21-15-1-5) sit in second place in the division with 48 points. The St. John's IceCaps (20-16-1-2) are in third place in the division with 43 points. The Worcester Sharks (18-15-3-1) are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Division with 40 points. The Portland Pirates (15-15-1-6) sit in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 37 points.

Manchester is tied with the Springfield Falcons for the lead in the American Hockey League with 58 points. The Monarchs 10 point lead in the Atlantic Division is the largest divisional lead in the Eastern Conference and the second largest overall in the AHL.

The Monarchs are ranked 28th in the AHL on the power play with 24 goals on 171 attempts. Manchester is ranked 14th in the league on the penalty kill stopping their opponent 154-of-187 times.

The Monarchs have a record of 3-4-0-0 against the IceCaps this season. The two teams will match-up in their eighth of 10 contests on Monday night.

Manchester has had the most success on Saturdays as they have compiled an overall record of 13-2-0-1 on Saturdays.

Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones and right wing Linden Vey have been named to the roster for the 2014 AHL All-Star Classic, presented by Assante Wealth Management, to be played at the Mile One Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland on February 11-12, 2014. This will be Jones' second AHL All-Star appearance. It is Vey's first time being named to the AHL All-Star roster.

Former Monarchs and current Los Angeles Kings forward Dustin Brown and goaltender Jonathan Quick have been named to the 2014 U.S. Olympic Men's Hockey Roster, which was revealed January 1. Both Brown and Quick were on the silver-medal winning 2010 U.S. Olympic Hockey team.

Former Monarchs and current Kings defenseman Slava Voynov was named to the 2014 Russian Olympic Men's Hockey Roster on January 7. This will be Voynov's first time representing Russia in the Olympics.

Center Jordan Weal (9-27=36) leads the Monarchs with 27 assists and 36 points.

Weal is tied for third place in the AHL with 27 assists.

Weal is also tied for eighth in the AHL with 36 points.

Right wing Brandon Kozun (10-19=29) ranks second on the Monarchs with 19 assists and 29 points.

Kozun ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs categories:

Games Played - 263 - 10th place

Goals - 79 - second place

Assists - 100 - fourth place

Points - 179 - tied for second place

Power Play Goals - 25 - third place

Game-Winning Goals - 18 - first place

Shots - 543 - eighth place

Left wing Nick Deslauriers (14-11=25) ranks third on the Monarchs with 25 points.

Deslauriers leads the Monarchs with 14 goals.

Deslauriers ranks third on the team with 66 penalty minutes.

Deslauriers is tied for the AHL lead with 149 shots on goal.

Left wing Tanner Pearson (13-12=25) ranks fourth on the Monarchs with 25 points.

Pearson also ranks second on the Monarchs with 13 goals.

Pearson recorded one point, a goal, in six games with the Kings from November 13 to December 3. He was recalled to the Kings on Tuesday, January 7.

Vey (6-16=22) is ranked fifth on the Monarchs with 22 points.

Vey recorded eight points (3-8=11) in 10 games from December 19 - January 15.

Vey is the Monarchs ninth all-time leader with 85 assists from 2011 - present.

Vey also collected five assists in 14 games with the Kings from November 1 and December 19, 2013. He was recalled to the Kings on Wednesday, January 15.

Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (5-13=18), forward Nick Shore (7-11=18), and left wing Andy Andreoff (7-11=18) are tied for sixth place on the Monarchs with 18 points each.

Bodnarchuk leads the Monarchs and the AHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-29.

Andreoff recorded a goal and two assists for his second career three-point game on Saturday night.

Andreoff leads the Monarchs and ranks 15th in the AHL with 96 penalty minutes.

Right wing Scott Sabourin (10-7=17) is ranked ninth on the Monarchs with 17 points.

Right wings Brian O'Neill (9-7=16) and Tyler Toffoli (10-6=16) are tied for 10th place on the Monarchs with 16 points each.

O'Neill and Deslauriers lead the Monarchs and are tied for 13th place in the AHL with three game-winning goals.

Sabourin and Toffoli are tied with Kozun for third place on the team with 10 goals each.

Toffoli returned to Manchester on Tuesday, January 14, and recorded his second natural hat trick and third three-goal game of his Monarchs career in Saturday's 6-0 win over the IceCaps.

Toffoli has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 32 games with the Kings. He was in Los Angeles from November 1, 2013 to January 14, 2014.

Defenseman Vincent LoVerde (2-11=13) is ranked 12th on the Monarchs with 13 points.

LoVerde ranks second on the Monarchs and third in the AHL with a plus-26 rating.

LoVerde scored his second goal of the season in Saturday's 6-0 win over the IceCaps.

Defenseman Andrew Campbell (2-7=9) is the all-time games played leader in Monarchs history with 387 games played.

Jones was recalled by the Kings on November 13, 2013, and returned to the Monarchs on January 5, 2014.

Jones made his National Hockey League debut with the Kings against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, December 3. He backstopped the Kings to a 3-2 shootout victory, including going 9-for-9 in the shootout.

Jones picked up his first NHL shutout by stopping all 16 shots he faced in the Kings 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday, December 7.

The rookie netminder then stopped all 31 shots he faced in the Kings 6-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, December 10.

In 11 games with the Kings, Jones collected a record of 8-3-0, a .950 save percentage, a 1.41 goals-against-average, and three shutouts. Jones' eight wins tied the NHL record for consecutive winning games to start an NHL career with netminder Bob Froese who won his first eight games with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 1982-83 season.

Jones is the first goaltender in NHL history to allow an average of less than one goal per game while winning the first eight appearances of his career.

Jones is the third goaltender in NHL history to record three shutouts in his first six starts. Goaltender Flat Walsh accomplished the feat with the New York Americans during the 1928-29 season and netminder Frank Brimsek did it with the Boston Bruins during the 1938-39 season.

Jones went 2-0-0 in two games since returning to the Monarchs on January 5. Jones has an overall record of 11-2-2 with a 2.08 goals- against average, a .933 save percentage, and one shutout in 15 games with the Monarchs this season. He was recalled back to the Kings on Wednesday, January 15.

Jones leads all AHL goaltenders with a 2.08 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage this season.

Jones ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs goaltending categories:

Games played - 151 - first place

Wins - 79 - first place

Losses - 56 - first place

Ties/Shootout Losses - 9 - tied for second place

Goals-against-average - 2.43 - eighth place

Save percentage - .922 - tied for sixth place

Shutouts - 11 - third place

Saves - 4,103 - first place

Goaltender Jean-Francios Berube registered a 14-8-2 record in 24 consecutive starts during Jones' first stint with the Kings.

Berube set a franchise record for consecutive appearances by a goaltender with 20 games on December 29. His current record-setting streak sits at 24 consecutive games. He surpassed the feat of 19 games set by netminders Travis Scott from February 19 - March 22, 2003, and Jason LaBarbera from November 19 - December 29, 2006.

Berube has collected a 15-11-2 record with a 2.57 goals-against-average and a .910 save percentage in 28 games with the Monarchs this season.

Berube is ranked third in the AHL with 1659:34 minutes played this season.

Berube recorded his first AHL shutout by stopping all 28 shots he faced in the Monarchs 6-0 win over the IceCaps on Saturday night.

Monarchs Promotions Los Angeles Kings Night - The Monarchs will be honoring the Los Angeles Kings and all the former Monarchs currently playing there when they host the Portland Pirates on Saturday, January 25. The Monarchs players will be wearing a specialty Kings-inspired jersey that was voted on by the fans and will be available in an auction. The first 2,000 fans will also receive a special Kings bank, courtesy of St. Mary's Bank.
