LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

vs. Norfolk (11/13): Head Coach Mark Morris picked up his 300th professional win as the Manchester Monarchs topped the Norfolk Admirals, 3-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena during the fourth annual Education Day on Wednesday morning. Left wing Andy Andreoff added to right wing Brian O'Neill's pair of goals for the Monarchs. Left wing Matt Beleskey scored the lone goal for the Admirals. Monarchs goaltender Jean-Francios Berube picked up his first win of the season stopping 23-of-24 shots. Norfolk goaltender Viktor Fasth took his first loss of the season making 27 saves on 30 shots while netminder John Gibson saved all 12 shots he faced in relief duty. Manchester went 0-for-1 on the power play. Norfolk went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

@ Portland (11/15): Portland Pirates' right wing Gilbert Brule jump started the scoring and the Manchester Monarchs could not rebound as they dropped the second VIP Cup game, 4-1, at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Friday night. Right wing Scott Sabourin scored the lone goal for the Monarchs. Defenseman Randy Jones and right wing Tobias Rieder joined Brule on the scoreboard. Monarchs goaltender Jean-Francois Berube took his second loss of the season stopping 30-of-34 shots. Pirates netminder Mark Visentin earned his sixth win of the season making 24 saves on 25 shots. Manchester went 0-for-6 on the power play. Portland went 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

vs. Norfolk (11/16): Right wing Brandon Kozun picked up two tallies as the Manchester Monarchs edged the Norfolk Admirals, 3-2, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Left wing Nick Deslauriers added a goal to Kozun's pair of tallies for the Monarchs. Monarchs goaltender Jean-Francois Berube earned his second win of the season by stopping 28-of-30 shots. Norfolk goaltender John Gibson took his fourth loss of the season making 27 saves on 30 shots. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the poweplay. Norfolk went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (11-3-1-2) are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with 25 points. The Providence Bruins (7-5-1-2) are tied with the St. John's IceCaps (7-7-1-2) for third place in the division with 17 points each. The Portland Pirates (6-5-0-2) are ranked fourth in the division with 14 points. The Worcester Sharks (5-7-1-0) are in fifth place with 11 points.

The Monarchs are ranked 19th in the American Hockey League on the power play with 11 goals on 69 attempts. Manchester is ranked 14th in the league on the penalty kill stopping their opponent 69-of-83 times.

The Monarchs are currently on a four-game winning streak at home.

At home, the Monarchs are undeafeated on Saturday games with a record of 4-0-0-0 Right wing Brandon Kozun (4-12=16) and center Jordan Weal (2-14=16) lead the Monarchs with 16 points each.

Kozun has collected eight points (1-7=8) in his last seven games.

Kozun ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs categories:

Goals - 73 - fourth place

Assists - 93 - sixth place

Points - 166 - tied for fourth place

Power Play Goals - 24 - third place

Weal leads the Monarchs with a plus/minus rating of plus-9.

Weal is tied for third place in AHL with 14 assists. Right wing Tyler Toffoli has four goals and four assists for eight points in seven games with the Los Angeles Kings. He was recalled on November 1, 2013.

Right wing Linden Vey has three assists in six games with the Kings since being recalled on November 1, 2013.

Goaltender Martin Jones and left wing Tanner Pearson were both recalled by the Kings on November 13, 2013.

Pearson has one point, a goal, in three games with the Kings.

Left wing Nick Deslauriers is tied with Pearson and Vey for fourth place on the Monarchs with 11 points (6-5=11).

Deslauriers six goals rank third on the team, and first among active Monarchs players.

Right wing Brian O'Neill (5-2=7), left wing Andy Andreoff (3-4=7), and defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (3-4=7) are tied for seventh on the Monarchs with seven points each.

O'Neill's five goal rank fourth on the team in goals scored.

Andreoff (3-4=7) has two power play goals in his last four games.

Defensemen Derek Forbort and Andrew Campbell are tied for second place on the Monarchs with plus-8 ratings.

Right wing Zach O'Brien collected his first American Hockey League point, an assist, against the Pirates on Friday, November 15.

Right wing Scott Sabourin picked up his second professional goal on Friday, November 15.

Goaltender Jean-Francios Berube earned his first win of the season against the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday, November 13 and his second victory against the Admirals on Saturday, November 16.

Jones had a record of 9-2-2 with a 2.24 goals-against-average, a .927 save percentage and one shutout when he was recalled on Wednesday, November 13.

Jones ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs goaltending categories:

Games played - 149 - first place

Wins - 77 - first place

Losses - 56 - first place

Ties/Shootout Losses - 9 - tied for second place

Goals-against-average - 2.45 - eighth place

Save percentage - .921 - tied for seventh place

Shutouts - 11 - third place

Teaming Up For Warmth Coat Drive - The Monarchs are asking fans to bring in their unwanted coats to both games next weekend, Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23, to donate to families in need this winter. E&R Cleaners has partnered with the Monarchs and will be collecting the coats, cleaning them and delivering them to local charities.
