Albany's Keith Kinkaid Named CCM/AHL Player of the Week
November 18, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Albany Devils goaltender Keith Kinkaid has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 17, 2013.
Kinkaid won all three of his starts last week, allowing a total of three goals on 82 shots (3-0-0, 0.97, .963).
On Monday afternoon, Kinkaid stopped 25 of 27 shots - including all 18 he faced over the final two periods - to help the Devils to a 5-2 win vs. Bridgeport. On Friday, Kinkaid made 25 saves for his first shutout of the season, leading Albany to a 3-0 victory at Hartford. And on Saturday in Syracuse, Kinkaid ran his shutout streak to 140:08 and finished with 29 stops - plus a perfect 5-for-5 showing in the shootout - as the Devils edged the Crunch, 2-1.
For the season, Kinkaid ranks second in the AHL with a 1.97 goals-against average, sporting a record of 6-1-1 with a .922 save percentage in eight appearances.
A third-year pro from Farmingville, N.Y., Kinkaid has appeared in 95 career AHL games with Albany, going 44-38-10 with a 2.75 GAA, a .906 save percentage and six shutouts. The 24-year-old netminder has also played one National Hockey League game, making his NHL debut with New Jersey on Mar. 5, 2013. Kinkaid originally signed with New Jersey in 2011 following two seasons at Union College.
In recognition of his achievement, Kinkaid will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Devils home game.
