LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

At Hartford (11/3): Four goals by four different players elevated the Manchester Monarchs to a 4-1 victory over the Hart-ford Wolf Pack at the XL Center on Wednesday night. Center Justin Azevedo, center Andrei Loktionov, defenseman Alec Martinez and left wing David Meckler tallied for the Monarchs. Left wing Justin Soryal scored the lone goal for the Wolf Pack. Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff (4-3-1) earned his fourth win of the season with 23 saves on 24 shots. Wolf Pack goaltender Chad Johnson (2-7-1) took his seventh loss of the season stopping 35-of-39 shots on goal. Manchester was 0-for-4 on the power play. Hartford was also 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

Vs. Hartford (11/5): Three goals by three different players elevated the Manchester Monarchs to a 3-2 victory over the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Defenseman Jake Muzzin, defenseman David Kolo-matis and left wing Bud Holloway lit the lamp for the Monarchs. Left wing Brodie Dupont and right wing Mats Zuccarello tallied for the Wolf Pack. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (2-0-0) earned his second win of the season with 25 saves on 27 shots. Wolf Pack netminder Chad Johnson (2-8-1) took his eighth loss of the season stopping 37-of-40 shots on goal. Manchester was 2-for-6 on the power play. Hartford was 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

At Worcester (11/6): Three power play goals against were the Manchester Monarchs downfall as the Worcester Sharks skated away with the 3-2 win at the DCU Center on Saturday night. Left wing Ray Kaunisto and left wing Dwight King found the back of the net for the Monarchs. The Sharks picked up power play goals from defenseman Sean Sullivan, right wing Jonathan Cheechoo and left wing Brandon Mashinter. Monarchs goaltender Jeff Zatkoff (4-4-1) took his fourth loss of the season with 25 saves on 28 shots. Sharks netminder Alex Stalock (4-4-1) earned his fourth win of the season stopping 18-of-20 shots on goal. Manchester was 0-for-5 on the power play. Worcester was 3-for-5 with the man advan-tage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Manchester Monarchs (7-4-1-1, 16 points) remain in second place in the Atlantic Division following three games last weekend. With two wins over the Hartford Wolf Pack (4-8-2-1, 11 points) and a 3-2 loss to the Worcester Sharks (5-3-1-2, 13 points), the Monarchs are five points behind the first place Portland Pirates (10-3-1-0, 21 points) and one point ahead of the third place Springfield Falcons (7-4-0-1, 15 points).

Manchester's power play is ranked 14th in the AHL as they have scored 11 goals on 59 opportunities for an 18.6% con-version rate. On the penalty kill, the Monarchs sit in 20th place in the league as they have given up 13 goals when they have been down a man. They have been shorthanded 63 times this season and have an 79.4% penalty kill rating.

Left wing David Meckler (7-3=10), right wing Brandon Kozun (5-5=10), center Corey Elkins (4-6=10) and defenseman Alec Martinez (3-7=10) lead the Monarchs with 10 points each.

Meckler leads the Monarchs with seven goals in 13 games this season. His seven tallies are also tied for sixth place in the AHL among goal scorers.

Meckler is also tied for sixth place in the AHL with two first goals of the game this season and he is tied for third place in the AHL along with center Justin Azevedo (4-3=7) with two game-winning goals.

Kozun is tied for sixth place in the AHL among rookies with 10 points.

Martinez's 10 points are tied for sixth place among AHL defensemen and his 38 shots are tied for first among league blueliners.

Martinez also leads the Monarchs with a plus/minus rating of plus-6.

Left wing Dwight King (6-3=9) is ranked fifth on the Monarchs squad with nine points.

Azevedo is tied with left wing Bud Holloway (2-5=7), defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov (1-6=7) and defenseman David Ko-lomatis (1-6=7) for sixth place on the Monarchs with seven points each.

Defenseman Jake Muzzin (1-1=2) and center Andrei Loktionov (1-3=4) joined the Monarchs last week after starting the season with the Los Angeles Kings. Muzzin has a point in each of the two games he played in this week. Loktionov scored his first goal of the season on the first shift of his first game in Manchester and has at least one point in each of the games he played in this week.

Left wing Ray Kaunisto (2-0=2) picked up a goal in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Worcester Sharks. He has a 33.3% shoot-ing percentage as he's scored two goals on six shots this season which is tied for first among AHL rookies.

Right wing Justin Johnson's 47 penalty minutes are ranked eighth in the AHL and right wing John Zeiler's 38 penalty min-utes are ranked 14th in the league.

Goaltender Jeff Zatkoff has a record of 4-4-1 with a 2.89 goals-against-average and a .899 save percentage in nine games this season.

Netminder Martin Jones has played in three games with the Monarchs and gained a 2-0-0 record with a 1.48 goals-against-average and a .949 save percentage.

MONARCHS PROMOTIONS

Ticket Package Holder Autograph Session - The Monarchs have invited their Ticket Package Holders to come meet the 2010-11 team on Tuesday, November 9 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Premium Ticket Package Holders will be let into the arena at 5:30 p.m. to meet the team and get autographs a half an hour early. The players will be positioned throughout the concourse signing autographs and meeting with fans. There will also be locker room tours available. All Ticket Package Holders have tickets for the event and must show them upon entry.

The Monarchs At Wings Your Way - Three Monarchs players will be at Wings Your Way on Wednesday, November 10 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. enjoying dinner and signing autographs with fans.

Teaming Up For Warmth Coat Drive - The Monarchs Care Foundation and the Monarchs are asking fans to donate un-wanted coats to families in need at the Monarchs game on Saturday, November 13 when they host the Providence Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:00 p.m. E&R Cleaners will clean the coats and with the Monarchs assistance, deliver the coats to families in need this winter.
