Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) are currently on a nine game point-streak and five-game winning streak. The 'Dogs will begin their week in Cleveland when they battle the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche) on Wednesday, November 10th, for a 10:45 a.m. game at the Quicken Loans Arena. The Bulldogs will then travel back to Copps Coliseum to host the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings) in back-to-back games, beginning with their 'Salute the Troops' night on Saturday, November 13th at 4:00 p.m. The 'Dogs will be having a pre-game ceremony on Saturday to honour the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and will be wearing speciality 'Salute the Troops' commemorative jerseys for the game. Hamilton will finish the week with their second 4:00 p.m. game against Grand Rapids on Sunday, November 14th, at 4:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.
The 'Dogs took on the Manitoba Moose twice this past week, with match-ups on Tuesday, November 2nd, and Wednesday, November 3rd, at Copps Coliseum. In Hamilton's first match-up versus the Moose, the 'Dogs took a first period lead with a power-play goal by Max Pacioretty minutes before the horn sounded to end the period. Cody Hodgson tied the game in the second period, potting his third goal of the season. The final period sealed the victory for the 'Dogs as Mathieu Carle scored, and Aaron Palushaj added an empty net goal to give Hamilton a 3-1 win over the Moose. The second of back-to-back games versus Manitoba began with a goal by Tommy Maxwell just minutes into the game. Hamilton responded with two goals, one from Aaron Palushaj, and the other by Max Pacioretty. Two other players from the 'Dogs scored, Ryan Russell added a goal in the second period, while Mathieu Carle potted one in the third to force overtime. In the shootout, Alexander Avtsin of the 'Dogs sealed a 5-4 victory with a shoot-out goal. The Bulldogs finished off their week by travelling to Montreal, Quebec, to take on the Binghamton Senators at Bell Centre. The match-up was the first of two games that will be held at Bell Centre this season. Five different Bulldogs scored, including Mathieu Carle, Ryan White, Yannick Weber, Andreas Engqvist, and David Desharnais. The game ended in a 5-2 Hamilton victory over the Binghamton Senators, in front of 13,267 fans.
