Oklahoma City Barons News Release
In Sunday's 7-6 shootout win over Toronto, Linus Omark produced the AHL's first 5-goal game since Jiri Tlusty, then of the Toronto Marlies, scored 5 against Syracuse on Feb. 18, 2009. While it doesn't count toward his individual goal total, Omark also scored one of OKC's 3 goals in the 8-round shootout. Omark's final goal during his career-high performance came on a 2-man advantage at 19:13 of the third period to tie the game, which the Barons trailed 4-1 early in the second period.
Other "Omarkable" notes from the 5-goal game:
- He scored the Barons' final 5 goals spread over the second and third periods.
- He recorded 12 shots on goal.
- Without the benefit of an assist, he established the single-game AHL high so far this season in points with 5.
- OKC never led the game until the end of the shootout.
- Omark entered Sunday's game with 5 goals and doubled his previous season output to move into a tie with Portland's Luke Adam for the AHL's goal lead.
- Sunday's win moved the Barons into sole possession of first place in the West Division with a Western Conference-high 19 points. OKC has played the most games in the conference. The Barons, Hartford Wolf Pack and Charlotte Checkers share the league high with 15 games played.
- Goaltender Martin Gerber has won 6 straight starts and leads the league in wins (8), minutes (738) and saves (315).
- The Barons are 3 games into a season-high 8-game homestand. Their next road game is the day after Thanksgiving at Lake Erie. During this homestand, the Barons will spend 24 consecutive full days at home.
