
Wild Reassigns Almond, Kassian to Aeros

HOUSTON --- The American Hockey League's (AHL) Houston Aeros, affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild, announced Sunday that Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher has reassigned center Cody Almond and left wing Matt Kassian to the Aeros from Minnesota.
Almond, 21 (7/24/89), was recalled by the Wild Nov. 4 and skated in two games, averaging 5:22 time on ice (TOI). Almond has posted five points (1-4-5) and a team-high 30 penalty minutes (PIM) in 10 games for the Aeros this season. The 6-foot-2, 217-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, scored one goal in seven games for the Wild last season as a rookie. Almond was originally selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (No. 140 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Kassian, 24 (10/28/86), was recalled by the Wild Nov. 3 and made his NHL debut Friday, Nov. 5 against Calgary. He skated in two games with the Wild, averaging 4:32 TOI and accruing seven PIM. Kassian registered one assist and 28 PIM in nine games with the Aeros this season. He recorded six points (2-4-6) in 59 games with the Aeros in 2009-10 and led the club with 149 PIM. The 6-foot-5, 252-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta, was originally selected by Minnesota in the second round (57th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Aeros (6-5-1-0, 13 points) look to extend a season-high four-game win streak with games at Abbotsford this Monday and Tuesday. Both games start at 9:00 p.m. CST.
