LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

At Manitoba (12/16): University of New Hampshire graduate center Jason Krog scored twice as the Manchester Monarchs fell to the Manitoba Moose, 4-2, at the MTS Centre on Tuesday night. Newly signed right wing Ryan Murphy and center Dusty Collins found the back of the net for the Monarchs. Along with Krog (2), center Dirk Southern and right wing Michael Grabner scored for the Moose. Monarchs' goaltender Jonathan Bernier (6-6-2) took his sixth loss of the season with 14 saves on 18 shots. Moose netminder Karl Goehring (9-5-0) earned his ninth victory of the season with 22 saves. Manchester went 0-for-5 on the power play. Manitoba was 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

At Manitoba (12/17): The Manchester Monarchs fought to come from behind but ran out of time as they fell to the Manitoba Moose, 3-2, at the MTS Centre on Wednesday night. Right wings Scott Parse and Ryan Murphy scored for the Monarchs. Right wing Mike Keane, right wing Michel Ouellet and left wing Mark Derlago lit the lamp for the Moose. Monarchs' netminder Jeff Zatkoff (0-1-0) took the loss in his AHL debut with 19 saves on 22 shots. Moose goaltender Karl Goehring (10-5-0) earned his 10th win of the season with 28 saves. Manchester went 0-for-4 on the power play. Manitoba was 1-for-2 with the man advantage.

Vs. Hamilton (12/19): The Manchester Monarchs threw 35 shots at goaltender Cedrick Desjardins but the Hamilton Bulldogs prevailed with the 2-0 shutout at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Right wing Mike Glumac and center Yanick Lehoux scored for the Bulldogs. Monarchs' goaltender Jonathan Bernier (6-7-2) took his seventh loss of the season with 23 saves on 25 shots. Desjardins (5-5-0) earned his fifth victory with 35 saves. Manchester went 0-for-5 on the power play. Hamilton was 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

At Worcester (12/20): The referee waved off two goals that the Manchester Monarchs put in the net, the same deficit that ended the game with the Worcester Sharks on top, 3-1, at the DCU Center on Saturday night. Right wing Bud Holloway tallied the lone goal for the Monarchs. Defenseman Brendan Buckley, right wing Ryan Vesce and center Cory Larose picked up goals for the Sharks. Monarchs' goaltender Jonathan Bernier (6-8-2) took his eighth loss of the season with 24 saves on 27 shots. Sharks netminder Thomas Greiss (9-8-0) earned his ninth victory with 19 saves. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the power play. Worcester was 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

Manchester (12-14-0-4) is tied for fifth place in the Atlantic Division with the Springfield Falcons (12-14-3-1). Both teams have 28 points.

The Monarchs are currently on a four-game losing streak which ties for the franchise's longest losing streak.

The Monarchs are in 22nd place in the AHL on the power play. The team is 22-for-150 with the man advantage for a 14.7-percent rating.

Manchester has stopped their opponent 133 times on 157 power play opportunities for an 84.7-percent rating this season, good for sixth place.

Manchester lost their first Friday game this season to the Albany River Rats on December 12 and their second game on December 19 versus the Hamilton Bulldogs. Their record is 6-2-0-1 on Fridays.

When the Monarchs score first, they have gained a point in every game but one. Manchester is 9-1-0-4 in the 15 games where they have scored first.

Manchester also earns a point when they have the lead following the first period (9-0-0-3).

The Monarchs are undefeated when scoring four or more goals (6-0-0-0).

After going 2-4-0-1 in the month of October, the Monarchs went 7-4-0-2 in November and are 3-6-0-1 in December.

Manchester's 3-1 win over the Providence Bruins on Sunday, December 14 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center was their first win on a Sunday (1-2-0-1) this season and their first road win in the month of December (1-1-0-1).

Sunday's win over Providence was also the Monarchs first road victory since November 26 in Grand Rapids. The Monarchs were on a five-game road winning streak from November 19-26 and then dropped four in a row (0-3-0-1) on the road November 29 - December 9.

The Monarchs have only two wins on a Saturday this season (2-8-0-0).

Reigning AHL Rookie of the Year right wing Teddy Purcell (9-10=19), right wing Trevor Lewis (8-11=19) and center Gabe Gauthier (3-16=19) lead the Monarchs in and points through 28 games of the season.

Purcell was recalled to the Kings on December 10. He still leads the Monarchs in goals with nine tallies on the season. He registered a goal and an assist in the Kings game against San Jose on December 15.

Gauthier is the leader in assists on the squad with 16 assists.

Gauthier is ranked sixth on the Monarchs all-time assists list with 81 helpers over three seasons. He is also ranked 10th in goals scored with 40 and ranked eighth with 121 points.

Gauthier is currently sidelined with an upper body injury until after Christmas.

Lewis was called up to the Kings on December 18 for the first time in his professional career. He made his NHL debut against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, December 19 and scored his first NHL goal on Saturday, December 20 against the Detroit Red Wings.

Center Marty Murray (3-13=16) is ranked fourth on the Monarchs in scoring with 16 points. He has collected eight points (2-6=8) in his last seven games.

Defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov (4-8=12) leads Monarchs blueliners and ranks fifth overall with 12 points. The defenseman was reassigned by Los Angeles to Team Russia on December 18 to participate in the World Junior Championships.

Right wing David Meckler (7-4=11) has moved to sixth place on the Monarchs in scoring and is ranked third in goals scored with seven tallies.

Left wing Scott Parse (4-7=11) and left wing Vladimir Dravecky (2-9=11) are tied with Meckler for sixth place on the Monarchs with 11 points apiece.

Center Brian Boyle (2-5=7) ended his four-game point streak by being held off the board during the Monarchs on Friday, December 19 against the Bulldogs.. He has a goal and four assists in his last four games.

Goaltender Jonathan Quick was recalled by the Kings on December 16. While with the Monarchs, Quick has a record of 6-5-2, a 2.68 goals-against-average and a .919 save-percentage.

MONARCHS TRANSACTIONS
