Hershey Bears News Release
Another streak: Much was made recently of HERSHEY'S franchise record 11-game winning streak, but another impressive run is still underway. With Sunday's win over Lake Erie at GIANT Center, the BEARS have now won 10 straight home games. HERSHEY has not lost at home since a 5-2 setback at the hands of the Philadelphia Phantoms on November 1, and the club is now 13-2-0-0 at GIANT Center in 2008-09.
Machesney overseas: Goaltender Daren Machesney has departed for Switzerland where he'll represent Team Canada in the 2008 Spengler Cup tournament in Davos. Machesney was selected last week to the honor.
Through 30 games: The BEARS have completed 30 games of the 2008-09 regular season, and ahead of the pace set by the 2006 Calder Cup Champions at the same point of the season. Under Bruce Boudreau, the BEARS won 19 of 30 games to begin 2005-06, while under Bob Woods the team has won 22 out of 30 out of the gate.
Atlantic Division, Hello!:After playing just two games against the Atlantic Division in 2008-09 thus far, the BEARS will begin a four-game stretch against Atlantic Division competition next Wednesday. HERSHEY will travel to Springfield, Providence, Hartford and Worcester in a span from December 31-January 4.
Washington update: The Capitals, who continue to lead the NHL's Southeast Division, travel to New York to face the Rangers Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. Washington is home this Friday to face the Buffalo Sabres at Verizon Center.
The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club stormed into the holidays with wins over Lowell and Lake Erie this past weekend. At 22 wins and 45 points, the BEARS have the best record in the American Hockey League. The Chocolate and White have also won 13 of its last 15 games entering play this weekend at home.
The BEARS will host Binghamton and Albany this Friday and Saturday at GIANT Center.
The Bears will return to the ice following a four day holiday break on Friday, December 26th at 5:00 p.m. at Giant Center. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
