Monarchs Trade for G Taran Kozun

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that the Monarchs have traded future considerations to the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) for goaltender, Taran Kozun.

Kozun, 21, played in nine games this season for the Grizzlies, posting a 4-3-0-0 record with a 3.08 GAA and a 0.892 save percentage in his first professional season.

The 6-foot-1, 165-pound native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan played parts of five seasons in the WHL, splitting time between the Kamloops Blazers, Nipawin Hawks and Seattle Thunderbirds, playing in a combined 151 games and posting a 64-52-15 record. Kozun's best season came during the 2014-15 season when he went 33-19-8, with a 2.41 GAA and a 0.915 save percentage. During that season, Kozun won the Del Wilson Trophy as the Top Goaltender in the WHL.

Kozun and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Mar. 4 (7 p.m.) when they host the Orlando Solar Bears for the start of a three-game series with their East Division rivals. The Monarchs will be hosting the Goodwill Clothing Drive that evening, and ask all fans to bring lightly used or new clothing to donate to those in need.
