
Monarchs Receive Reinforcements

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Zac Larraza and Derek Arnold have been returned from loan by the San Diego Gulls (AHL) and Portland Pirates (AHL) respectively, and Josh Brown has been loaned to the Monarchs by Portland.
Larraza, 22, has played in 23 games for the Monarchs this season, scoring 20 points on 13 goals and seven assists. The first-year player was loaned to the San Diego Gulls for the second time this season February 11 and played in five games, scoring two points on two assists. In total, Larraza has played in 24 AHL games this season between the Pirates, Milwaukee Admirals and Gulls, scoring eight points on three goals and five assists.
The 6-foot-2, 194-pound native of Scottsdale, Ariz. played collegiately at the University of Denver, playing in 134 games over a four-year career, scoring 66 points on 35 goals and 31 assists.
Arnold, 26, has played in 31 games for the Monarchs this season, posting 25 points on 14 goals and 11 assists. Arnold was loaned to the Pirates on February 18 and played in five games for Portland without recording a point. The first-year player has been loaned to AHL teams three times this season, with the first two call-ups coming from the Ontario Reign. Arnold has played in nine AHL games this season without recording a point.
The 5-foot-8, 165-pound product of UMass-Lowell returns to the Monarchs with the 3rd highest shooting percentage amongst ECHL rookie skaters (20.3%) and tied for second on the team in goals with 14.
Brown, 22, will rejoin the Monarchs after playing four games with the Pirates on his most recent re-call, where he registered his first AHL point on an assist February 6 against the Providence Bruins.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound right shot has played in 44 games with the Monarchs this season, scoring 11 points on one goal and 11 assists, while logging 60 penalty minutes and a +15 rating. The native of London, ON was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round (152nd overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Larraza, Arnold, Brown and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Mar. 4 (7 p.m.) when they host the Orlando Solar Bears for the start of a three-game series with their East Division rivals. The Monarchs will be hosting the Goodwill Clothing Drive, and ask all fans to bring lightly used or new clothing to donate to those in need.
