Brassart Recalled by Iowa, Knight Assigned to Mallards

MOLINE, Ill. - Forward Brady Brassart has been recalled from the Quad City Mallards by the American Hockey League's Iowa Wild and forward Jared Knight has been assigned to the Mallards by Iowa, the Mallards announced today.

Brassart, 22, has scored four goals and notched 11 assists for 15 points in 23 games since joining the Mallards from the Wild in December. The 6' 2", 210-pound Vernon, British Columbia, native scored three goals and added two assists in 30 games with Iowa earlier this season.

Brassart scored eight times and picked up 13 assists for 21 points in 72 games with Iowa as a rookie last year. He broke into professional hockey by playing nine games- and scoring once- for the Wild late in the 2013-14 season.

Brassart played five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Spokane Chiefs and Calgary Hitmen before turning pro. In his final junior campaign, Brassart matched or set career highs in goals (35), assists (50) and points (85) while helping Calgary to the 2013-14 WHL Central Division title. Brassart scored 112 goals, notched 157 assists and totaled 269 points in 323 career Western League games.

Knight, 24, returns to the Quad Cities after scoring twice and picking up two assists in five games over three stints with the Mallards this season. Knight has scored once and added six assists in 34 games with Iowa this year. The 5' 11", 200-pound Battle Creek, Michigan, native was traded by the Boston Bruins to the Minnesota Wild last March. He recorded four goals and six assists to total ten points in 52 AHL games while splitting last season between Iowa and the Providence Bruins.

Knight spent the bulk of his first three professional seasons with Providence after being selected by Boston in the second round of the 2010 National Hockey League Entry Draft with the thirty-second overall choice. He has scored 11 goals and picked up 30 assists for 41 points 157 career AHL games. Knight first saw ECHL action when he played two games for the South Carolina Stingrays in 2012-13.

Before turning pro, Knight enjoyed four successful junior seasons with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. Knight led London in goals (36) in 2009-10 and points (70) in 2010-11 before helping the Knights to the 2012 OHL Robertson Cup title. He piled up 102 goals, 107 assists and 209 points in 250 career OHL games.

The Mallards return to action on home ice tomorrow night against the Utah Grizzlies. All Mallards Wednesday night home games this season face off at the special early start time of 6:35 p.m.
