Monarchs Skills '07 Draft Divides Team For Event On March 5

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, divided the team into two squads at the Draft Party at J.W. Hills in Manchester on Tuesday for the first intra-squad Skills '07 competition at Sullivan Arena at Saint Anselm College on Monday, March 5 from 6:30-9:00 p.m.

The Draft Party was led by honorary coaches Jamie Staton from WMUR Channel 9 and Greg "Kretchy" Kretchmar from Rock 101's The Morning Buzz. Kretchmar was partnered with Monarchs Head Coach Mark Morris and Staton was teamed up with Monarchs Assistant Coach Scott Pellerin. Winning the coin toss and choosing the yellow jerseys, Staton and Pellerin picked defenseman Peter Harrold first overall in the draft.

Team Staton: Harrold, Clarke, Gauthier, Jackman, Moulson, Brust, Werner, Stephenson, Kanko, Ryan, Nolan and Murphy.

Team Kretchy: LaBarbera, Murray, Tukonen, Zeiler, Mormina, Schmidt, Petiot, Buckley, Hoffman, Kemp, Crosty and Giuliano.

The competition on March 5 will be modeled after the AHL's annual All-Star Competition with seven events: Puck Control Relay, Rapid Fire, Accuracy Shooting, Breakaway Relay, Fastest Skater, Hardest Shot and Pass & Score.

Following the event on March 5, the specialty jerseys worn by the players will be auctioned off through both a silent and live auction benefiting the Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Monarchs. The Monarchs players will also come up on the concourse to sign autographs post-competition.

There are only 1,200 tickets available for the event and are on sale now. Tickets for reserved seating are sold out! General admission tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the Monarchs Pro Shop. Monarchs Season Ticket Holders and Manchester Regional Youth Hockey Association (MRYHA) will receive special ticket offers.
