Iowa Chops News Release

MILWAUKEE, WI - The Iowa Stars and the Milwaukee Admirals met for the seventh time this season in a Valentine's Day match-up at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. Not willing to share the Valentine's Day love with the Milwaukee fans, the Iowa Stars defeated the Admirals 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday evening and posted their seventh win against them this season.

The Stars jumped-out to a 1-0 lead within the first five minutes of the opening period. Rookie Left Wing John Lammers registered his fifth goal of the season at the 4:58 mark. Wednesday's goal was Lammers' second in as many games and his third point in his last three contests. His goal was assisted by Defenseman Mark Fistric and Right Wing Marius Holtet. Iowa out-shot the Admirals 17 to eight in the period.

Milwaukee's Rich Peverley evened the score at one with nine minutes left in the second period. Peverley's even-strength goal was his 25th tally of the season and was assisted by Jason Guerriero and Nicolis Corbeil. This time, the Admirals out-shot Iowa, 18 to eight.

Both teams skated a scoreless third period, sending the game to a five-minute sudden-death overtime period.

Just 1:47 into the extra session, Iowa Defenseman Mark Ardelan scored on the Stars second shot of overtime and in the process, snapped Iowa's recent four-game losing-streak. Fistric grabbed his second assist of the game and his third in the last two games.

Iowa Goaltender Dan Ellis stopped 32 of 33 shots en-route to the 2-1 overtime win. Milwaukee netminder Pekka Rinne faced 32 shots in the loss.
