
2007 Evening With the Pirates Scheduled for March 13th

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates Foundation announced today that the 2007 Evening With the Pirates will be held on March 13, 2007 from 6-10 p.m. at the Holiday Inn By the Bay. This will be the ninth year that the Pirates have hosted this popular fundraiser involving the entire Pirates team, coaches and families. This year, the event will benefit the Maine Children's Cancer Program and the Portland Pirates Foundation. Over the past eight years, the Evening with the Pirates has raised over $200,000 for area charities and non-profit organizations.
This year the festivities will be marked by a Pirates theme, featuring silent and live auctions, gaming (for entertainment only), host comedian George Hamm, live buccaneer music from the Crow's Nest, magic by the Steelegraves, a treasure chest raffle, grog provided by Pepsi, Gritty McDuff's and National Distributors as well as an assortment of grub from some of downtown Portland's finest galleys, plus great prizes! "We are excited to once again present this popular and fun event to the community which will also help raise funds for The Maine Children's Cancer Program and the Portland Pirates Foundation," said Pirates Managing Owner/CEO Brian Petrovek. The Maine Children's Cancer Program works to provide integrated, comprehensive, clinical research-based medical care, psychosocial and practical support services to infants, children and adolescents with cancer from throughout the state of Maine.
The mission of the program is not only to cure cancer in as many children as possible, but also to support children and their families through their difficult and stressful journey of living with childhood cancer.
The Portland Pirates Foundation was formed in July, 2003 as a Maine public charitable corporation and represents the philanthropic arm of Portland Pirates LLC.
The mission of the Portland Pirates Foundation is to enrich and impact the region, and specifically the greater Portland area, through educational, sports-based, community-building and fundraising activities, programs, events and relationships.
The Foundation leverages the unique talents, resources and capabilities of Portland Pirates players, families, employees and members and collaborates with local corporate and community partners to make a difference in our local communities.
