GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Manchester Monarchs were propelled by a two-goal opening period on their way to a 3-2 win over the Adirondack Thunder on Tuesday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

With the win, the Monarchs (5-2-0-1) handed the Thunder (4-1-1-1) their first regulation loss on the season.

Manchester started the scoring when Alexx Privitera netted his 2nd goal of the season at 9:33 of the first period. Privitera took a pass from Daniel Doremus at the top of the slot, and sent a wrister through Thunder goaltender, Mason McDonald, to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead.

Gasper Kopitar added to the Monarchs lead at 15:27 of the opening period when he scored his 2nd goal of the year. Kopitar took a sneaky pass from Derek Arnold at the right dot, and sent a wrister through a screen and over the left shoulder of McDonald to give the Monarchs a 2-0 advantage.

The Monarchs extended their lead when Daniel Ciampini netted his 3rd goal of the season at 11:37 of the second period. Ciampini took a pass from Justin Agosta low in the right circle, and one-timed a slap shot past McDonald for the 3-0 Monarchs lead.

Adirondack got on the board at 12:25 of the middle frame when Dana Fraser scored his 2nd goal of the season. Fraser took a pass from behind the net by Brett Pollock in the slot, and sent a wrister past Monarchs goaltender, Sam Brittain, to bring the score to 3-1.

The Thunder drew closer when Brian Ward scored his 5th goal of the season at 17:00 of the 3rd period. With Brittain out of position, Ward wrapped the puck in on his forehand, making the score, 3-2, Monarchs.

The Monarchs are back on SNHU Arena ice Saturday, Nov. 5 (6 p.m.), when these same Thunder will make the trip the Manchester for the start of a two-game weekend series.
